Beyond the Hype: How NQ Business Owners Are Reclaiming Their Time with AI
10 February 2026, Wendy De Munari, AI Communications Consultant and Coach
Growing a business in North Queensland has always required a certain level of grit. I remember starting my career in an era where everything - from letters and reports to client records and meeting minutes - was done by hand and committed to memory. We didn’t have "automated workflows"; we had coffee, notebooks, and long hours.
While the tools have changed, the goal remains the same: Clarity. Today, many small-to-medium business owners across the North are working harder than ever, yet many are still doing things "the long way." Having personally integrated AI into my own consultancy - saving me dozens of hours on training, assessment, coaching and programme building - I’ve seen first-hand that the right tech isn't a luxury; it’s a competitive necessity.
If you’re still using your brain as a filing cabinet, here are the tools that are currently changing the game for my clients.
1. From PPT to Gamma: The Presentation Revolution
I used PowerPoint for more years than I care to admit. It was the industry standard, but it was a time-sink. I recently switched to Gamma for my coaching programmes and was, quite frankly, blown away.
The Clarity Win: Instead of fiddling with margins and font sizes, I input my strategy and let the AI build the deck. It allows me to focus on the message and the delivery - the parts that actually impact my clients - rather than the pixels.
2. Otter.ai: Your Silent Executive Assistant
In the "hand and memory" days, if you didn't write a meeting note down, it didn't happen. Now, I use Otter to record and summarise meeting notes.
The Clarity Win: It captures the nuance of the conversation, allowing me to stay 100% engaged with the person in front of me. For NQ founders who are often wearing five different hats, having an automated summary of "who said what" is a massive mental offload.
3. The Big Three: ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini
I use these models for the heavy lifting of coaching, training and business development activities. Whether it's drafting vital business documents, structuring a new coaching module or creating training materials, these tools act as a sophisticated first-draft engine.
The Clarity Win: They don't replace my expertise, but they save the "creative energy" usually spent on a blank page. I’ve saved hours of manual labour, which I now reinvest into face-to-face coaching and strategy.
4. Perplexity: The Researcher’s Edge
When I need to verify a business trend or find specific data for a founder's programme, I turn to Perplexity. Unlike a standard search that returns a list of ads, it provides a cited, structured answer.
The Clarity Win: It’s research without the rabbit hole. It keeps you informed without the distraction.
5. Zapier: Connecting the Dots
For a medium-sized business, the friction usually lies between apps. Zapier acts as the digital glue, moving information from your email to your CRM or your project management tools automatically.
Why the "Old Way" is Costing You
The "manual" era taught us discipline, but staying there in 2026 is costing you growth. Many businesses in our region aren't yet optimising these systems, which means those who do have a massive head start.
At Clarity Hub Consulting, we don't just talk about software; we build the systems that allow you to step out of the "doing" and into the "leading." Would you like more information?
